Dennis J. Carlo, Ph.D. - President & Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Dennis J. Carlo has extensive
biotech experience and is
widely-regarded as one of the “Founding Fathers” of the biotech
industry. He was one of the original “Test Tube Cowboys” of Hybritech Inc.,
where he served as Vice President of Research and Development and Therapeutic
Manufacturing prior to its acquisition by Eli Lilly & Co. Soon after the
sale to Lilly, Dr. Carlo, along with Dr. Jonas Salk of the Salk Institute,
founded The Immune Response Corporation where he served as its President and
Chief Executive Officer. In 1991, Ernst & Young named Dr. Carlo its
Biotechnology Entrepreneur of the Year. Most recently, he served as president
of Telos Pharmaceuticals, a
privately-held biotechnology company.
Dr.
Carlo has a long history of leadership in the development of vaccines and
biologics. Early in his career, as Director of developmental and basic cellular
immunology and Director of bacterial vaccines and immunology at Merck &
Co., he oversaw research and product development for PNEUMOVAX (14-valent
polysaccharide vaccine), MENINGOVAX A, MENINGOVAX C, MENINGOVAX A-C, and H. influenzae type b, and also directed
a multi-disciplinary task force whose goal was the development of novel
adjuvants. At Hybritech, he put together a successful program to carry out
research and development in the area of monoclonal antibody and cancer therapy.
At the Immune Response Corporation, he established a program for an AIDS
therapeutic vaccine and led the product development in successful clinical
trials.
Dr.
Carlo has served on the Board of Directors and Advisory Boards for several
public and private companies. Dr. Carlo
has a Ph.D. in Immunology and Medical Microbiology from Ohio State
University and is named
on 23 patents and has authored over 225 articles and abstracts in the field of
immunology.
Robert O. Hopkins - V.P. of Finance & Chief Financial Officer
For four years, Mr. Hopkins was
an Executive Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer of Chatham Capital
Corp. In that position he managed financial operations for a corporation that
held seven hospitals, an extensive life sciences operation and a number of
semi-autonomous business units within its portfolio.
Mr. Hopkins has substantial
financial and operating experience outside of the medical services industry. He
served as Chief Financial Officer of Veritel Corp, leading the turnaround of troubled biometric software company
with heavy debt and difficulties raising capital. He has also served as Chief
Operating Officer for Circle Trust
Company for two years, during
which time he was responsible for corporate reorganization after acquiring a
troubled Trust Company.
For two years, Rob was Senior
Vice President for Finance for the Mariner Post-Acute Network, Atlanta, Georgia.
In this position he was responsible for financial management of a division
consisting of 12 long-term, acute care hospitals. Among his previous
medical-related experience, he served as Assistant Administrator of Finance for
Kindred Hospitals; President and Chief Executive Officer of Doctors Hospital of
Hyde Park; and Vice President of Accounting for Cancer Treatment Centers of America.
Mr. Hopkins has a Bachelor of
Science in Finance from Indiana State University,
and an M.B.A. from Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.
David J. Marguglio
- V.P. of Business Development & Investor Relations
Mr.
David J. Marguglio has a broad knowledge of the corporate finance, private
equity, and investment banking industry. For over 10 years, he has held
positions of Vice President with Citigroup Global Markets, Smith Barney and
Merrill Lynch. Prior to entering the financial industry, David founded and ran
two different startup companies, the latter of which was eventually acquired by
a Fortune 100 company.
Mr.
Marguglio began his professional career as a financial analyst and soon became
engaged in preparing financial modeling and damage analysis utilized in
corporate litigation. From 1993 to 1994, he served as financial counsel for the
commercial litigation division of a national law firm. Mr. Marguglio is a
licensed securities representative, securities agent, and investment advisor.
He holds a degree in finance and business management from the Hankamer School
of Business at Baylor
University.
Thomas Moll, Ph.D. - V.P.
of Research
Dr. Thomas Moll
has close to 20 years of experience in both academic and industrial preclinical
research and development in the areas of inflammation, immunology and cancer
biology. As part of his work, Dr. Moll has gained extensive experience in the
generation, production and use of biologics, including protein/Fc chimeras,
antibodies and gene therapeutics. After concluding his diploma studies in
Biochemistry at the Biocenter, University
of Basel, Switzerland,
Dr. Moll received his doctorate degree in Genetics and Biochemistry “With
Honors” from the University of Vienna, Austria. Subsequent to his work with
Boehringer Ingelheim and Sandoz (now Novartis) in Vienna,
Austria, Dr. Moll served as
Assistant Professor at the UniversityMuenster, Germany, before
joining Cardion, a privately held German biotech company. At Cardion, (then
Cardiogene) Dr. Moll was initially in charge of the company’s preclinical
cardiovascular gene therapy program, before taking over the responsibility for
Cardion’s immunology programs as Vice President of Immunology. In this function
he supervised the research and preclinical development of several protein/Fc
fusion proteins, including CRB-15, an antagonist IL-15/Fc fusion protein. In
2003, Roche Pharmaceuticals licensed this protein for clinical development in
various autoimmune disease indications. Before joining the Adamis management
team, Dr. Moll was responsible for all research and development activities at
Telos Pharmaceuticals. Dr. Moll serves as Editor of the Journal of Immune Based
Therapies and has been a member of the European Society of Gene Therapy, the
North American Vascular Biology Organization, the American Association of
Immunologists, and the American Society of Transplantation.

Maurizio Zanetti, M.D. - Chief Scientific Advisor
Dr. Maurizio
Zanetti, M.D. is a Professor in the Department of Medicine of the University of California,
San Diego and a member of the Moores UCSD
Cancer Center.
He received a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies from Lyceum Marcantonio
Flaminio of Vittorio Veneto, Treviso, Italy.
In 1974, he received his M.D. degree “summa cum laude” from the University of
Padova Medical School, Italy. In 1977, he passed the Board in Nephrology at the
University of Padova Medical School. He trained in Immunology at the University of Paris VI
in Paris, France,
the University of Connecticut Health Sciences in Farmington,
CT, and The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA.
Dr.
Zanetti is a member of the American Association of Immunologists, the American
Society for Clinical Investigation, the Clinical Immunology Society, the Henry
Kunkel society, the Robert A. Good society, the Societe’ Francaise
d’Immunologie, and the Societa' Italiana di Immunologia. He served as Associate
Editor for the Journal of Immunology and Cellular Immunology. He served as
member on NIH Study Sections since 1998. Prior to that, he served as a member
for the Immunology review panel of the American Cancer Society. He served as ad
hoc reviewer for the National Science Foundation and the Human Frontier Science
Program, as well as for numerous scientific journals including: Nature, Nature
Medicine, Nature Biotechnology, The Proceedings of the National Academy of
Sciences, The Journal of Immunology, Blood, Cancer Research, and Clinical
Cancer Research.
He
has been an invited speaker at over 60 national and international conferences
and symposia, has published more than 150 articles on peer reviewed journal and
contributed numerous book chapters. He was Editor of “The Molecular Basis of Pathology”, the book series “The Antibodies” and served as guest
Editor of “Cancer Immunotherapy” for
Springer Seminars of Immunopathology.

Richard L. Aloi - President
Mr. Aloi founded Aero
Pharmaceuticals in 1997. He developed Aero into a distributor of allergen
extracts and related products, and managed Aero’s transition to a specialty
pharmaceutical provider. From 1979 to 1997, before founding Aero, Mr. Aloi was
Director of Sales and Marketing at Center Laboratories (a division of E.
Merck), a manufacturer of allergenic extracts and prescription respiratory
products, including the market leading epinephrine auto-injector. At Center
Laboratories, Mr. Aloi oversaw a 50-person marketing group which included over
35 field sales representatives. His earlier positions within Center
Laboratories included Sales Representative, Regional Manager, and National
Sales Manager. Mr. Aloi has served in leadership and advisory roles for
industry groups, including the Allergen Product Manufacturers Association, the AmericanCollege
of Allergy Asthma & Immunology, and the American Academy
of Allergy Asthma & Immunology. Mr. Aloi earned his B.A. in Political
Science from Boston
College in 1976.
Richard B. Frost – Vice President,
Business Development
In February 1996, Mr. Frost became
the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Frost
Hanna Capital Group, Inc., a company formed to acquire an operating business.
In August 1999, Frost Hanna Capital Group, Inc. consummated a business
combination with Gaines Berland, Inc., which later merged with Ladenburg
Thalmann Financial Group, Inc., a broker-dealer member firm of the New York Stock Exchange
and the NASD. Previously, Mr. Frost was the Chief Executive Officer and
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Frost-Hanna Mergers Group, Inc.
(“Frost-Hanna Mergers”), a company also formed to acquire an operating business.
Frost-Hanna Mergers later merged into Pan American World Airways, Inc. (“Pan
Am”). Mr. Frost remained a member of the Pan Am Board of Directors until April
1997, when Pan Am merged with Carnival Airlines. In February 1998, Pan Am filed
for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States Bankruptcy Court. Mr.
Frost earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Miami
in 1970.
Thomas C. Parker - Vice President,
Marketing and Sales
Mr. Parker joined Aero
Pharmaceuticals in March 2004. Prior to which, Mr. Parker was the co-founder
and a partner of PharmaNova, LLC, and a drug development/drug delivery biotech
company. From April 2000 to August 2002, Mr. Parker was the General Manager for
Collateral Pharmaceuticals/Therapeutics, a gene therapeutics specialty company.
From January 1996 to April 2000, Mr. Parker was the Senior Vice President of
Marketing/ Sales and Business Development for Celltech Pharmaceuticals US. Mr.
Parker has held senior management positions with Medeva Pharm US and Fisons Corporation.
Mr. Parker has a B.S. degree from University
of Tennessee/Pacific Western University
and is a graduate of the medical marketing program at John Anderson Graduate
School of Business at UCLA.
